To coordinate Clearing operations in line with the bank’s policies, regulatory requirements and in compliance with the best practices.

Job Description

Responsibilities


Strategic/Financial


¨      Develop and implement the framework for monitoring and managing the units within Clearing.


¨      Identify and propose international best practices for clearing



Operations


¨      Draft / proof read correspondence for own unit


¨      Supervise and control activities in the clearing centre


¨      Process Outward clearing to GHIPSS


¨      Authorize all transactions processed in the unit


¨      Authorize outward clearing items


¨      Authorize inward clearing items


¨      Authorize ACH transactions (Direct debits/Credits)


¨      Authorize Standing Instructions


¨      Communicate net clearing position to treasury


¨      Ensure Call over of daily transactions is done


¨      Ensure daily proofing/reconciliation of accounts/GL


¨      Ensure that all queries pertaining to own unit are resolved within agreed timelines


¨      Prepare volume statistics and activity report.


¨      Ensure that daily check list is in place and adopt by unit


¨      Ensure that settlement position is advised to the appropriate quarters promptly


¨      Continuous operational improvement to improve service delivery.


¨      Ensure process automation/improvement


¨      Any other assigned responsibilities


People


¨      Supervise activities of department members and provide coaching, mentoring and training as appropriate


¨      Monitor/manage performance of subordinates against pre-assigned goals and conduct performance appraisals as required

Volume statistics and activity report - periodic


Key Performance Indicators


¨      % variance to agreed contract service level (fulfilment and maintenance) Dishonour Workflow and Exception Item Management


¨      Number of outstanding direct debit disputes and claims (weekly)


¨      Satisfactory audit rating


¨      Error rate <1%


¨      Achieve a service quality rating of >85


¨      Age of all items in clearing GL
