Responsibility
Develop strategies, objectives, business plans, financial budget and other support systems (operating manuals, standard operating procedures, etc.) including monitoring mechanisms in managing the treasury department.
Manage and control all funds including Nostro accounts with all correspondent banks.
Manage the banks dealings on the money market and other investments in bills and bonds.
Responsible for the management of the following: -
o Interest Rates
o Exchange Rate and
o Liquidity Risks
o Capital
Initiate action for business acquisition for the development of treasury operations and spearhead the treasury marketing effort to grow the portfolio both in terms of volume and value.
Working in conjunction with marketing teams to sell the bank’s products (corporate, retail and private Banking.
Must ensure the bank has good services of foreign exchange and deposits by providing input into rates and product development.
Initiate action to develop relevant products to achieve targeted revenue as well as meet customers’ needs in line with the market trends and the Bank’s overall business strategy and direction.
Monitor to ensure total compliance with Bank of Ghana requirements/regulations including money laundering and prescribed Code of Conduct or Ethics. Manage Capital
Risk/liquidity risks in line with the Bank’s approved Risk Management Policy
Determine operational and counterparty limits.
Initiate action to ensure that the necessary steps are taken to address regulatory and internal control guidelines.
Assess and advise management on impact of major commitment of funding arrangement on risk profile of the bank.
Direct monitor of trade investment portfolios including working capital and other portfolios.
Prove forecasts for future financial decisions and positions, developed and maintain all 3rd party banking relationships to ensure adequate support the Bank’s business and its strategy.
Key Performance Indicators
Liquidity management – ensuring the Bank meets its short and long term obligations
Asset – Liability Management – Managing mismatches between assets and liabilities (tenor, interest rates, currencies)
Deep understanding of money markets, fixed income, FX, derivatives and structured products
Optimizing funding costs and returns
Understanding capital adequacy and optimization
Ensuring adherence to reporting standards and prudential limits
Strong understanding of frameworks, LCR , NSFR etc.
Ability to engage regulators confidently and transparently, central bank, correspondent banks , rating agencies and investors .
Support to business units with funding and hedging solutions
Effective pricing of internal funds ( FTP Pricing ) while ensuring adherence to the local central bank regulations
Visibility and direct involvement in customer visits & advisory
Lead treasury, ALM and dealing teams Revenue Generation.
Participate constructively in management decision-making
processes through active membership of ALCO, Credit
Committee as well as leadership and membership of assigned project team(s).
Job Competency Requirement
Good level of judgement required in analysing multiple alternatives involving treasury management taking cognizance of competitor knowledge and experience(s).
Job requires total integrity and decision-making ability under time and competitive pressures.
Work involves cross-functional relationships with other business units within the Bank and other institutions/agencies hence a high sense of credibility and collaboration required.
Job Specifications
First degree or its equivalent with ten (10) years’ experience, five (5) of which must be in a management role within the banking sector) or a Masters degree in Finance with 5 years post qualification in treasury roles.
