· Map and log active excavations, recording overburden, gravel thickness, sediment changes and mineral bearing horizons.
· Guide excavation teams on material boundaries and stockpile classification in coordination with the Mining Engineer.
· Implement approved sampling plans for mine faces, stockpiles, plant feed and tailings where relevant.
· Maintain sample registers, chain of custody and quality control records; investigate missing, inconsistent or suspect results.
· Update geological maps, sections and databases using field observations, GPS coordinates and verified analytical information.
· Reconcile mined material characteristics with plant performance and recovery observations; flag unexpected losses or variations.
· Prepare daily geological notes and periodic reports highlighting material quality, geological risks and follow-up requirements.
· Observe excavation safety controls, avoid unsupported faces and communicate unsafe ground or water conditions immediately.
· Attend daily production planning meetings and translate geological observations into clear instructions on material segregation.
· Mark approved material boundaries using the site identification system and verify operators understand changes before excavation.
· Check stockpile identities and movements to prevent mixing of materials with different geological characteristics.
· Record representative photographs and field sketches with dates, locations and links to relevant sample records.
· Compare expected and observed gravel thickness and notify the Mining Engineer of areas requiring revised excavation plans.
· Distinguish field estimates from verified analytical results; explain uncertainty rather than presenting preliminary observations as confirmed grade.
Daily control of activ mining material and operational geological records. Coordinate future target investigation with the Exploration Geologist to avoid duplicate or conflicting programmes.
Bachelor’s degree in Geology or Applied Geology; normally at least three years of relevant field experience, preferably in alluvial or surface mining. Practical competence in geological logging, sampling, GIS or mapping tools and spreadsheets. Understanding grade control, sample integrity and production reconciliation.
Desirable Experience with gravity recovery operations, stockpile control and reconciliation; familiarity with Liberia or comparable sedimentary settings.
Careful observation, accurate records, professional integrity and effective collaboration with mine and processing personnel.
Timeliness and accuracy of geological updates; sample traceability and quality; reliability of material classification; reconciliation quality; timely escalation of geological and safety concerns. Targets will be agreed against site baselines; production or cost results must be assessed alongside safe practices and reliable reporting.
Daily geological log and material guidance; current maps and sections; sample register; periodic geology and reconciliation report.
Give geological guidance on material classification and sampling within approved procedures. Escalate major interpretation changes and do not independently certify resources, reserves or excavation stability beyond competence.
Site-based work may involve heat, rain, uneven ground, noise, dust and proximity to operating machinery. Follow approved procedures, use required protective equipment and report hazards promptly. Protect company assets and confidential information; treat colleagues and host communities respectfully. Other assigned duties must be reasonable and consistent with competence. Hours, roster, remuneration and benefits are set out in the employment contract
