Job Summary

The Protection Systems and Control Room Coordinator is responsible for managing Mantrac Liberia’s control-room operations and electronic protection systems. The role requires practical experience in fire alarm systems, CCTV, biometric scanners, electronic access control, intrusion detection, alarm response, incident reporting, and security-guard supervision

Job Description

Main Responsibilities


1. Control Room Operations



  • Manage daily control-room operations and monitor all electronic security systems.

  • Maintain accurate occurrence logs and ensure proper handover of incidents, system faults, and outstanding actions.

  • Immediately escalate critical alarms, emergencies, suspicious activities, and system failures.


2. Fire Alarm System Management



  • Monitor fire alarm panels and respond to fire, smoke, heat, and system-fault alerts.

  • Conduct routine system checks and coordinate testing and maintenance with relevant service providers.

  • Maintain fire alarm testing, activation, fault, and maintenance records.

  • Support fire drills, emergency evacuations, and response planning.


3. CCTV Management



  • Monitor live and recorded CCTV footage to identify suspicious activities, theft, safety violations, and unauthorized access.

  • Retrieve and preserve CCTV footage for authorized investigations.

  • Conduct routine camera checks and report defective cameras, blind spots, recording failures, and connectivity problems.

  • Protect the confidentiality and integrity of CCTV footage.


4. Biometric Scanner Management



  • Enroll, update, suspend, and deactivate authorized users on biometric systems.

  • Monitor biometric access and attendance records and report irregularities.

  • Troubleshoot basic system faults and escalate technical problems.

  • Ensure former employees and expired contractors are removed promptly.


5. Access Control Management



  • Administer access rights for employees, contractors, visitors, and service providers based on approved authorization.

  • Monitor forced-door alarms, doors held open, repeated access denials, and unauthorized access attempts.

  • Maintain accurate records of access approvals, changes, suspensions, and deactivations.

  • Conduct periodic reviews of access rights.


6. Intrusion Detection and Alarm Response



  • Monitor intrusion alarms, motion detectors, panic alarms, door contacts, and perimeter sensors.

  • Respond immediately to alarm activations and coordinate verification and escalation.

  • Investigate recurring or false alarms and recommend corrective actions.

  • Maintain accurate alarm-response and resolution records.


7. Security Systems Maintenance



  • Conduct routine operational checks of all protection systems.

  • Maintain an updated security equipment and system-fault register.

  • Follow up with IT, technicians, vendors, and service providers until reported faults are resolved.

  • Monitor security-system installations, upgrades, testing, and commissioning.


8. Security Guard Supervision



  • Supervise contracted security guards and ensure all assigned posts are adequately covered.

  • Monitor guard attendance, deployment, patrols, alertness, and compliance with company procedures.

  • Ensure guards understand access-control, alarm-response, and emergency procedures.

  • Address performance gaps through the contractor’s representative.


9. Incident and Emergency Management



  • Respond promptly to theft, fire alarms, injuries, unauthorized access, security breaches, and other emergencies.

  • Conduct preliminary investigations and preserve relevant evidence.

  • Prepare accurate incident reports with findings and recommended corrective actions.

  • Coordinate with management, emergency services, and external agencies when authorized.


10. Records and Reporting



  • Maintain accurate visitor, vehicle, equipment, patrol, alarm, access-control, contractor attendance, and incident records.

  • Prepare and submit daily operational reports to the Group Protection Team.

  • Prepare periodic reports for management on incidents, system performance, guard operations, and outstanding risks.

  • Analyze security data and recommend operational improvements.


11. Security Inspections and Risk Improvement



  • Conduct regular security inspections and walk-throughs at Mantrac and Delta locations.

  • Identify vulnerabilities, procedural weaknesses, equipment failures, and emerging risks.

  • Recommend corrective and preventive measures and follow up on implementation.


12. Policies and Stakeholder Coordination



  • Support the development and implementation of security policies, procedures, post instructions, and emergency plans.

  • Maintain professional relationships with management, employees, visitors, contractors, service providers, regulatory bodies, and emergency agencies.

  • Perform other related duties assigned by management.


Qualifications and Experience



  • Bachelor’s degree in Security Management, Information Technology, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Criminal Justice, Risk Management, or a related field.

  • A relevant diploma or technical qualification supported by strong practical experience may also be considered.

  • Minimum of three years of experience in control-room operations, electronic security systems, industrial security, banking, telecommunications, mining, or a similar environment.

  • Demonstrated practical experience in:

    • Fire alarm systems

    • CCTV and video-management systems

    • Biometric scanners

    • Electronic access control systems

    • Intrusion detection and alarm systems



  • Experience supervising contracted security guards.

  • Technical or professional certification in electronic security, fire safety, control-room operations, or security management is an advantage.


Required Knowledge and Skills



  • Ability to operate CCTV systems and retrieve recorded footage.

  • Knowledge of fire alarm panels, detectors, zones, alarm signals, and system faults.

  • Ability to enroll and remove users from biometric and access-control systems.

  • Understanding of intrusion alarms, emergency response, incident escalation, and evidence preservation.

  • Ability to perform routine system checks and basic troubleshooting.

  • Strong report-writing, analytical, and record-management skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and other relevant applications.

  • Excellent written and spoken English.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Mandatory Recruitment Requirement


Candidates must demonstrate hands-on experience in control-room operations and electronic security systems. General security or guard-supervision experience without practical exposure to fire alarms, CCTV, biometric scanners, access control, and intrusion detection systems will not be sufficient.
