Summary of the Role
The Community Relations Specialist will serve as the bridge between the company and its host communities in Nimba, Bong, and Grand Bassa Counties. The role focuses on building strong relationships with local authorities, traditional leaders, youth, and women’s groups, while ensuring open dialogue, grievance management, and community trust.

The Specialist will support the planning and monitoring of community development and CSR initiatives, maintain accurate engagement records, and provide timely reports to management. They will ensure compliance with Liberian laws, company policies, and international standards such as the IFC Performance Standards and the Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights.

This is a field-based, full-time role under an Employer of Record (EOR) contract with Gurus HR Consultancy Group, offering the chance to make a lasting impact on sustainable development and community engagement in Liberia.

About the Role


On behalf of one of our international clients operating in Liberia, we are recruiting a passionate and experienced Community Relations Specialist. This role will drive community engagement, strengthen stakeholder dialogue, and support inclusive development initiatives across Nimba, Bong, and Grand Bassa Counties.


The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in building trust between the company and its host communities while ensuring transparency, accountability, and compliance with both Liberian laws and international standards


Key Responsibilities


Community Engagement & Stakeholder Relations



  • Build and maintain strong relationships with county administrations, traditional leaders, youth, women’s groups, and other stakeholders.

  • Facilitate two-way communication between the company and communities through meetings, forums, and consultations.

  • Support the implementation of stakeholder engagement plans and strengthen community committees.

  • Act as a liaison between the company and communities by sharing accurate and timely information.


Grievance Management



  • Receive, document, and resolve community grievances in line with the company’s grievance mechanism.

  • Ensure respectful, timely, and culturally sensitive resolution of issues.

  • Maintain grievance registers and report on trends and resolutions.


Community Development & CSR Support



  • Support the planning and monitoring of community development and CSR initiatives.

  • Assist in impact monitoring, reporting, and alignment of projects with community needs.

  • Represent the company at county meetings and events.


Monitoring, Reporting & Compliance



  • Maintain accurate records of engagements, grievances, and development projects.

  • Produce weekly/monthly activity reports and feedback to management.

  • Ensure compliance with Liberian laws, company policies, and international standards (e.g., IFC Performance Standards, Voluntary Principles on Security & Human Rights).

  • Uphold integrity, transparency, and accountability in all community relations activities.


Health, Safety & Environment



  • Follow all company safety policies and PPE requirements.

  • Immediately report hazards and incidents.

  • Participate in safety meetings and ensure a safe working environment.


Qualifications & Requirements



  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, Environmental Science, Sociology, Community Development, Communications, or a related field.

  • Experience: At least 3 years in community relations, stakeholder engagement, social services, or related roles. (Mining, infrastructure, or extractives sector experience preferred but not required.)



  • Skills:


§  Strong interpersonal, presentation, and public speaking skills.


§  Conflict resolution and negotiation ability.


§  Cultural sensitivity and adaptability.


§  Strong organizational and reporting skills.


§  Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.


§  Fluency in English required; knowledge of local languages is an added advantage.
