Job Summary

Gurus HR Consultancy Group, the Human Resources Partner to Ivanhoe Liberia Limited, invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced Liberian professionals for the position of Community Relations Specialist, based in Grand Bassa County.
This role is critical to building and sustaining positive relationships between the company and host communities, ensuring effective stakeholder engagement, grievance management, and community development support in line with the Concession Agreement, company policies, and international best practices.

Job Description


Key Responsibilities



  • Establish and maintain constructive relationships with county authorities, traditional leaders, youth and women’s groups, and local communities.

  • Serve as a liaison between the company and host communities, ensuring accurate, timely, and culturally sensitive communication.

  • Support stakeholder engagement plans, community meetings, consultations, and local forums.

  • Receive, document, and follow up on community grievances in line with the company’s grievance mechanism.

  • Support community development and CSR initiatives aligned with company priorities.

  • Maintain accurate records and prepare weekly and monthly reports on community interactions, grievances, and emerging risks.

  • Ensure compliance with Liberian laws, company policies, and international standards, including IFC Performance Standards.


 Qualifications and Experience



  • Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, Sociology, Environmental Science, Community Development, Communications, Management, or a related field.

  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in community relations or related fields (experience in mining, infrastructure, or extractives is an advantage but not required).

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills.

  • High level of cultural sensitivity and ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.

  • Fluency in English (spoken and written). Knowledge of local languages is a strong added advantage.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).


 Additional Advantage (Not a Requirement)


While candidates may come from any part of Liberia, familiarity with Grand Bassa County and surrounding regions, including Bassa, Margibi, or Rivercess, is considered an added advantage due to local cultural dynamics and community engagement effectiveness. A strong local stakeholder network will be an asset in this role.


 Working Conditions



  • Field and office-based role.

  • Based at the project site in Grand Bassa County, with frequent travel to surrounding communities.

  • Exposure to an industrial environment requiring strict compliance with health, safety, and PPE standards.
