Job Summary
Jhpiego Liberia is a technical assistance partner for the malaria vaccine introduction in Liberia funded by the Global Vaccine Initiative (GAVI). Jhpiego is supporting the Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI) and the National Malaria Control Program (NMCP) to introduce the malaria vaccine in Liberia. will support the Country Programmes Delivery Team and the Expanded Program
on Immunization at the Ministry of Health (MoH) in the successful planning, introduction and scale up of the malaria vaccine in Liberia.
Job Description
Specific Responsibilities
The Immunization Advisor will work with Jhpiego’s country team, and Jhpiego’s
global immunization advisors, to provide technical assistance in alignment with
the areas outlined below but not limited to:
• Ensure the project is technically sound, evidence-based and responsive to the needs of the country and to GAVI’s global health priorities.
• Lead work plan, and project monitoring, in close collaboration with GAVI, Ministry of Health, and other stakeholders to ensure timely implementation
and compliance to the requirements and regulations of the award.
• Liaise with senior Jhpiego technical leadership in immunization and malaria to apply international good practice.
• Ensure programmatic and financial integrity of the project, on time implementation and meeting targets within the scope of approved budget.
• Identify issues and risks related to project implementation in a timely manner and apply appropriate program adjustments.
• Work with Country Program Manager, EPI team and other staff to design and implement a plan to track project data/results to inform adjustments in
project implementation.
• Work with Monitoring and Evaluation Director and staff to identify andimplement learning activities needed to respond to national public health
needs.
• Integrate community approaches, gender sensitivity, and capacity building of local organizations and staff into all activities as appropriate.
• Work with finance and project staff to develop and track project budgets.
• Oversee the quality, preparation, and timely submission of project reports to donor.
• Represent Jhpiego and present project’s progress, achievements and lessons learned to donors and other key stakeholders through meetings,
conferences, and presentations.
• Ensure proper financial management, procurement, administration, human resources and logistics needs of the program are met within Jhpiego's
policy and compliant with the GAVI and the host country government policies.
Required Qualifications
• Graduate degree in public health or related field
• Strong written and verbal fluency in English
• At least 7 years of professional experience in public health programs, preferably focused on immunization and/or malaria.
• Demonstrated experience working in immunization with deep understanding of issues of equity and access
• Proven ability to multitask across various planning and implementation processes within a highly demanding environment
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Excel, MS Access, etc.)
